Pepper Viner Companies was founded in 1985 by Phil Pepper and Bill Viner as a commercial real estate and multifamily development firm. Although retaining its commercial real estate activities, the Company changed its focus to homebuilding in the early nineties and has continued on that path for the last twenty years. Mike Whyde joined the firm in 1994. Pepper Viner has developed thirty residential communities in metro Tucson.
For the last thirty years Pepper Viner has an unmatched reputation for innovation, superior quality, customer service and sustainable value. Pepper Viner received an Energy Smart Home Scale award from the U.S. Department of energy, a milestone reached by only one-half of one percent of all builders nationally. The Company’s “First Time Quality” program works to ensure that metrics are met by every trade during the building process. The Company was named the 2013 Builder of the Year by Southern Arizona Home Builders Association, the fifth time Pepper Viner has won this prestigious award. It is also a two time recipient of both the Wells Fargo Copper Cactus Award for Best Place to Work and the Alliance of Construction Trades Excellent Homebuilder Award.
The Company also prides itself in community involvement. Principals of the firm have played founding and leadership roles in various community events and organizations.
William Viner, Chief Executive Officer, is a licensed general contractor in the State of Arizona. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a double major in Real Estate and Finance. For the last thirty-two years, Mr. Viner has been active in the field of real estate acquisition and development, as well as planning, design and construction of various residential and commercial developments. Mr. Viner is Co-Founder of Tucson Festival of Books as well as the Founder of the Ft. Lowell Shoot Out Youth Soccer Tournament. In addition, he is an active Board Member of the Southern Arizona Homebuilders Association, Pima County Real Estate Research Council and Tucson Festival of Books.
Michael B. Whyde, Custom Home Division. Previous employment highlights include: President, Doyle Wilson Homebuilder, Dallas, Texas; Vice-President Sales Marketing, Richmond American Homes, Inc./Sonoran Homes, Inc., Tucson, Arizona; Marketing Director/Sales Manager, Hanover Homes. Mr. Whyde is a past President of the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association and is a licensed real estate broker in the State of Arizona.
Chad Williams Chief Operating Officer has been with Pepper Viner since 2004 and is well versed in purchasing, sales, accounting and customer service as well building science. He has previously served as a Project Manager, as our General Project Manager and Purchasing Manager. Williams graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Winthrop University in South Carolina and moved to Tucson from Savannah, Georgia. He’s been in the construction industry for over 18 years.
David Marshall, CPA, Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Marshall joined Pepper Viner in 2001. Previous employment highlights include: Chief Financial Officer of Cienega Homes and President of Acacia Homes. Mr. Marshall graduated from Wake Forest University and received his Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Arizona.
Richard Barna, Director of Building Science. Mr. Barna has over thirty-five years’ experience in residential and commercial construction. Previous employment highlights include the Planning and Project Coordinator for the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. He has chaired the Southern Arizona Homebuilder Association Green Building Committee. Mr. Barna attended the University of Connecticut and has been with Pepper Viner for 20 years.
Treasa M. Jones, Controller, an Arizona native, has over 27 years of accounting experience. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix. Employed with Pepper Viner since 2001, Jones has worked as a member of their accounting staff, focusing on the Commercial & Residential Division and continues to serve as the Human Resources Manager. Jones is an active member of Society for Human Resources Management – Greater Tucson Chapter (SHRM – GT).
